Calling all dancers 9th grade and older! Join the 24x National Champion University of Minnesota Dance Team for a two-day dance intensive. This is an ADVANCED level intensive.
Dancers will be instructed by the current UMDT team and coaches, with special guest instructors. Work on skills, learn combos in jazz, pom, hip hop and contemporary, get a preview of the game day experience, and hear more about what it takes to be a member of a collegiate dance team.
Recommended skills to attend ADVANCED level intensive: triple/quadruple pirouettes, a la second turns with varying speed and direction change, jump sequences with connection of skills, ability to pick up choreography quickly
In addition to the Intensive, high school graduating classes of 2027 and 2028 (or college transfers) are invited to sign up for the Elite Recruitment Showcase. This event includes a full additional day on Friday, giving dancers a chance to work in a smaller setting with the team and coaching staff. The Recruitment Showcase is geared towards ELITE level dancers. Dancers MUST attend the Intensive to attend the Recruitment Showcase.
Recommended skills to attend ELITE level showcase: quadruple/quintuple pirouettes, a la second turns with varying speed and direction change and unique entry/exit of skills, jump sequences with connection of skills, Nationals level skill sequences.

Friday Recruitment Showcase: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday Intensive: 9:30am - 6:00pm (lunch provided)
Sunday Intensive: 8:30am - 12:45pm

There is no specific dress code. Wear what makes you feel best! Classes will consist of jazz, lyrical, hip hop and pom styles (poms are NOT required).

Recruitment Showcase Only:
As part of the Recruitment Showcase, each dancer will have one of two options for an individual showcase.
Graduating class of 2027 ONLY: Dancers can choose 1 of the following 2 options:
Perform a prepared solo of their choice (up to 90 seconds); can be any style, and can have been previously competed or performed by the dancer (costumes not required)
Eight 8 count Solo Showcase
Graduating class of 2028: Dancers will perform an eight 8 count Solo Showcase
Eight 8 Count Solo Showcase: An extended version of the popular 4x8 format! We will have an upbeat song on a loop, and dancers will come to the front one at a time to perform. This showcase can include skills, movement, performance...show us what makes you stand out!
Dancers signed up for the Recruitment Showcase will receive an additional email closer to the event to finalize details for the individual showcase!
